Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh Dargah, Pune

Hazrat Qamar Ali Darvesh Dargah in shivapur near pune is not an unusual dargah. It is one of the mysterious places in India and is known for a special rock which weighs 70 kg and can be lifted by only one means.

It can be lifted only if 11 people gather around it, touch it with their index finger, and loudly call out the name of the saint who cursed it, after which the stone magically floats in the air and there is no other way to lift a stone.

Story behind:

Around 800 years ago there was a family living near today’s dargah. At that time there was a gymnasium at the place where the dargah is now. Wrestlers were using two large stones for exercise, to harden their hands muscles. There was a boy in that family whose parents insisted that their son go to the gym and engage in masculine sports. However the boy, Qamar Ali Darvesh, was not like the others and was not interested in wrestling like stuff.

The boy’s interests were in other matters. At a very early age he possessed some super paranormal powers. He was often insulted by members of the gym. People were looking at him as weak, as he was not interested in manly sportive games or things.

One day as usual he was being insulted by people of gym due to his weakness and uncompetitive nature, he felt it very strongly and replied “You think I’m fool and dull and I can’t be like you, I can’t lift the rocks like you, let me tell you this now onwards you cannot lift the rock unless you repeat my name, even if you try to lift those with your whole power.

One day Singhia saw Ratnavati’s mistress in the market purchasing oil for the princess. He enchanted the oil with black magic( Anyone who will apply/touch the oil will automatically get attracted to the magician). He was hoping that the princess would get attracted to him upon touching the oil. But Ratnavati was a lady with beauty and brains. She noticed that the oil is enchanted with some magic and she threw away the bottle of oil.  The bottle broke over a rock which got attracted and rolled towards the Singhia and crushed him.

After some days Mughals attacked and along with many women, children princess Ratnavati was killed. It’s been said those voices which come from Bhangarh in the night are of those women and children.

Kamakhya Devi Mandir, Assam

This temple is famous because here people worship the genitals of Devi Sati. It is believed that once in a year the temple shows the menstrual cycle of Devi Sati and due to this the water of Brahmaputra river (flows near to the temple) turns red for 3 days. One of the pieces of the body that is genital of Devi Sati came and fell at the place of the temple and hence got name Kamakhya Temple.

Vrindawan Garden, UP

Inside Nidhivan there is a palace called Rang Mahal. This is the place where every night a bed made of sandalwood is prepared for Lord Krishna. A jar filled with water, a neem datun (for brushing teeth) and paan are kept at the bedside. It is believed that once the doors are opened in the morning, the bed looks as if someone has slept in it, while the water of the pitcher seems to have been used and so do the paan and neem datun.

Story Behind:

It is believed that Lord Krishna and Gopis appear at night in Vrindavan. Trees found in Nidhivan are of different kinds. These trees are mostly small in height, even the Tulsi plants found in the premises are in pairs. Believers say that these trees transform into Gopis at night and participate in Raas Leela. In the morning they turn into trees again. The view of this area can be seen from the houses built around Nidhivan, but no one dares to do so. It is said that those who tried to peep into the gardens after 8 pm lost their mental balance or even vision. That’s why many people have sealed their windows with bricks and those who have open windows also close them after the evening Aarti bell.
