The iPhone Duo went on sale in India today, 23 October, and the iPhone Duo price in India starts at ₹2,99,900 for 256GB. Add AppleCare+ (₹51,900), which you really should on a foldable, and the base model crosses ₹3.5 lakh.
So is it worth it? For most people, honestly, no. But there’s one group of buyers for whom the maths works, a trade-in that cuts the price more than any bank offer, and a repair bill that should scare you into the right add-on. All three are below.
⚡ Key takeaways
- Price: ₹2,99,900 (256GB), ₹3,24,900 (512GB), ₹3,74,900 (1TB), ₹4,49,900 (2TB). Sale started 23 October.
- PTI reports the first week’s stock is already pre-booked, so don’t expect to walk into an Apple Store and buy one this week.
- Offers: instant cashback on eligible ICICI, Axis and Amex cards (up to ₹7,000, as reported), no-cost EMI on 3 and 6 months until 11 November, and trade-in credit.
- Inner screen repair without AppleCare+ is reported at ₹1,49,900. With it, ₹8,900.
- It costs ₹1,20,000 more than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 (₹1,79,999 at launch). Wait if you’re unsure.
iPhone Duo Price in India: Every Variant
Apple opened pre-orders on 16 October at 5:30 pm IST, and the sale began on 23 October. ANI reported long queues at Apple’s Saket store in Delhi on sale day, and PTI, quoting unnamed sources, says the entire first week’s stock was pre-booked, with Apple BKC in Mumbai and Saket leading. Apple didn’t comment. Here are the prices reported by Business Today and Free Press Journal:
| Storage | Price (MRP, incl. taxes) | 6-month no-cost EMI (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 256GB | ₹2,99,900 | about ₹49,983 a month |
| 512GB | ₹3,24,900 | about ₹54,150 a month |
| 1TB | ₹3,74,900 | about ₹62,483 a month |
| 2TB | ₹4,49,900 | about ₹74,983 a month |
The EMI column is my own simple division of the MRP by six. Your card issuer’s final number may differ slightly. It comes in two colours: Star White and Night Sky.
That’s serious money for almost any Indian family, so let’s be clear about what you get.

What You Get for ₹3 Lakh
These figures come from Apple’s own iPhone Duo specs page.
| Feature | iPhone Duo |
|---|---|
| Inner screen | 7.6-inch foldable OLED, 1878 × 2670, ProMotion, nano-texture finish |
| Outer screen | 5.4-inch OLED, 1398 × 2034 |
| Chip | A20 Pro |
| Rear cameras | 48MP main + 48MP ultra-wide + 12MP 2x telephoto |
| Battery claim | Up to 24 hours typical use |
| Weight | 254 g |
| Thickness | 5.2 mm open, 11.3 mm closed |
| Durability | IP68 (6 m for 30 minutes), titanium frame and hinge cover |
The crease and the hinge
Every foldable has a crease. Apple says it uses optically clear adhesives so the display layers “glide” as the screen folds, which it claims reduces stress and crease. That’s Apple’s claim, not an independent test, so wait for long-term reviews before you trust it.
The weight is the hidden trade-off
At 254 g, it’s heavier than most regular phones. You’ll feel it in a shirt pocket and during long video calls. If you mostly use your phone one-handed on a crowded metro, keep that in mind.
The Real Cost After Offers (Pay Off the Hook)
Here’s the trick I mentioned at the start. The bank offer is the headline, but the trade-in is where the money is.
According to Apple’s India product page, the offers are:
- Instant cashback on qualifying American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards, on transactions of ₹10,001 or more, for up to two orders per card in 90 days. Apple’s page links to a separate amounts list; Business Today and Free Press Journal put it at up to ₹7,000
- No-cost EMI on 3- and 6-month tenures, from 11 October to 11 November 2026
- Trade-in credit for an eligible old phone, including Android phones
Free Press Journal reports trade-in value of up to ₹81,500, depending on the device and its condition. So the best case looks like this:
| Amount | |
|---|---|
| 256GB MRP | ₹2,99,900 |
| Card cashback (max) | minus ₹7,000 |
| Trade-in (best case) | minus ₹81,500 |
| Best-case effective price | about ₹2,11,400 |
⚠️ Watch out
That ₹81,500 is the maximum, for a recent top-end iPhone in great condition. Most trade-ins will give you far less. Check the exact value for your phone on Apple’s site before you get excited, and remember that selling your old phone privately often gets more.
The repair bill nobody puts in the ad
Here’s the part of the real cost that matters most on a foldable. Beebom and Smartprix both pulled these India prices from Apple’s repair page:
| Repair | Without AppleCare+ | With AppleCare+ |
|---|---|---|
| Inner foldable display | ₹1,49,900 | ₹8,900 |
| Outer display | ₹42,900 | ₹2,500 |
| Back glass | ₹20,900 | ₹2,500 |
| Battery service | ₹24,900 | ₹0 |
| Other accidental damage | ₹2,24,900 | ₹8,900 |
AppleCare+ for the Duo is reported at ₹51,900. That’s a lot, but one cracked inner screen costs nearly three times as much. So the honest “real price” of the 256GB model is ₹3,51,800 with AppleCare+, before the trade-in. A buyer at the Saket store told ANI the protection plan felt “essential”, and on a ₹3 lakh phone with a folding screen, I agree.

iPhone Duo vs Galaxy Z Fold8: ₹1.2 Lakh Difference
Samsung has been making foldables for years, and its 2026 range launched in India in July. Here’s the price gap, using launch prices reported by SamMobile and Free Press Journal.
| Phone | Starting price (256GB) | Gap vs iPhone Duo |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Duo | ₹2,99,900 | |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra | ₹1,99,999 | ₹99,901 cheaper |
| Galaxy Z Fold8 | ₹1,79,999 | ₹1,19,901 cheaper |
| Galaxy Z Flip8 | ₹1,24,999 | ₹1,74,901 cheaper |
That gap is huge. For the price of one iPhone Duo, you could buy a Galaxy Z Fold8 and still have over a lakh left for a laptop, AirPods and a year of gym fees.

So why would anyone pay more?
Three honest reasons. You’re deep in Apple’s ecosystem (Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, iCloud Photos), you want iMessage and FaceTime with family abroad, or you plan to keep the phone for five-plus years and trust Apple’s long software support. If none of those apply, the Samsung is the rational pick.
Mistakes to Avoid Before You Buy
A ₹3 lakh purchase deserves five minutes of checking. These are the slip-ups I’d avoid.
- Buying 256GB to save money. If you shoot 4K video of every family function, 256GB fills up fast, and you can’t add storage later. Think about your real usage first.
- Skipping the case and AppleCare+. A foldable has a hinge and a folding inner screen, two parts a regular phone doesn’t have. Budget for a proper case and the ₹51,900 plan from day one.
- Assuming no-cost EMI is free. Check for processing fees and GST on interest with your bank. “No-cost” sometimes means a small fee hidden in the fine print.
- Trading in without backing up. Back up WhatsApp chats and photos before you hand over your old phone. Here’s how to clear and tidy your iPhone first.
- Buying from a random reseller. Stick to Apple’s online store, the Apple Store app, or authorised retailers. Grey-market units may not come with an Indian warranty.

Should You Buy the iPhone Duo or Wait?
This is my take, based on Apple’s official specs and prices, not on a review unit.
Buy it now if you:
- Already use a Mac and iPad daily and want one device to replace your phone and a small tablet
- Can afford it without EMI stress, and the trade-in brings it closer to ₹2 lakh
- Love being first and accept that first-generation hardware has risks
Wait if you:
- Want the best value (the Galaxy Z Fold8 costs ₹1,20,000 less)
- Are worried about crease, hinge or screen durability over years
- Would need a 12-month EMI to afford it (Apple’s page lists 15.99% interest on 12-month EMI)
✅ Our verdict
The iPhone Duo is a stunning piece of engineering at a price most Indians shouldn’t pay. If you’re an Apple-everything household with a top-end iPhone to trade in, go ahead. Everyone else should wait a year: the second model will likely fix early issues, and today’s price may fall.
Under new Apple CEO John Ternus, the Duo is the company’s biggest hardware bet in years. That’s exciting. It’s also exactly why waiting for version two is smart.

When does the iPhone Duo go on sale in India?

Apple lists instant cashback on eligible American Express, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank cards (reported at up to ₹7,000), plus no-cost EMI on 3- and 6-month tenures until 11 November 2026.

It’s rated IP68, which Apple says covers depths up to 6 metres for 30 minutes. Treat that as protection against accidents like rain or a spilled glass, not as permission to take it swimming.
Is the iPhone Duo better than the Galaxy Z Fold8?
It depends on your ecosystem. The iPhone Duo suits people already using Apple devices. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is about ₹1.2 lakh cheaper and comes from a brand with years of foldable experience.
The Bottom Line
The iPhone Duo price in India makes it a luxury buy, not a sensible upgrade. Check your trade-in value on Apple’s site, add ₹51,900 for AppleCare+, compare the total with a Galaxy Z Fold8, and only buy if that number still feels comfortable. Stock is tight this week anyway, so there’s no harm in waiting for the first long-term reviews.
