The Flipkart Big Bang Diwali Sale started on 28 October 2026, and the banners are shouting “50% off” and “36% off” on phones. We checked four of the most-promoted phones against their actual launch prices, and the real savings range from ₹15,000 down to exactly zero.
One of them is listed at its launch price with a big discount tag next to it. Which one, and how to spot the same trick on any product, is in section 3.
⚡ Key takeaways
- The sale started on 28 October 2026. SBI credit and debit cards get a 10% instant discount, but reports put the cap at ₹1,000 on phones.
- Galaxy S25 FE at ₹44,999 is a real ₹15,000 cut from its ₹59,999 launch price, even though the “50% off” tag is inflated.
- iPhone 17 (256GB) at ₹89,999 is ₹9,901 below Apple’s own ₹99,900 price.
- Nothing Phone (4a) at ₹31,999 shows “36% off” but costs the same as its launch price.
- Rule of thumb: compare with the launch price or the brand’s own store, never with the struck-out MRP.
What’s Live in the Flipkart Big Bang Diwali Sale
The Flipkart Big Bang Diwali Sale began on 28 October, a few days after Big Billion Days ended, according to My Mobile India and Digit. Flipkart hasn’t put an end date on its banners. The SBI card offer runs until 10 November, which suggests the sale stretches past Dhanteras.
Both outlets list the same timed deal windows on Flipkart’s sale page:
| Deal window | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Festive Bestsellers | 5 PM to 7 PM |
| Price Crash | 7 PM to 8 PM |
| Big Bang Hours | 7 PM to 9 PM |
| Patakha Deals | 8 PM to 10 PM |
| Tick Tock Deals | New deals every hour |
Evenings are when the flash prices drop, so that’s when to check. Stock on flash deals is limited, and adding a phone to your cart doesn’t hold the price.

The SBI 10% Offer: Read the Cap First
The headline bank offer is a 10% instant discount on SBI credit and debit cards, including SBI credit card EMI. Both My Mobile India and Digit confirm the 10%. The fine print matters more than the percentage, though.
The Sunday Guardian’s summary of the offer terms lists these conditions:
- Minimum order of ₹4,990 on mobiles.
- Maximum discount of ₹1,000 on phones with a full swipe, or ₹1,250 on EMI.
- Not valid on SBI Cashback, Paytm SBI or Flipkart SBI credit cards.
- Not valid on cash on delivery.
- Valid from 28 October to 10 November 2026.
So on a ₹89,999 iPhone, “10% off” is really ₹1,000 off, about 1.1%. That’s still money, but it’s not the ₹9,000 the banner makes you imagine. Check the exact terms on the product page before you pay, because caps can differ by product and category.
💡 Pro tip
If you’re paying by EMI anyway, the cap is ₹250 higher. Just make sure the EMI is genuinely no-cost: check the EMI breakup screen for interest and any processing fee before you confirm.

These Flipkart prices were on the site on the evening of 28 October 2026. Prices change through the day, so treat them as a snapshot. Launch prices come from launch-day reports linked in the sources.
| Phone | Flipkart price | Struck-out “MRP” | Launch price in India | Real saving vs launch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung Galaxy S25 FE (8GB/128GB) | ₹44,999 | ₹89,999 (“50% off”) | ₹59,999 (Sept 2025) | ₹15,000 |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (12GB/256GB) | ₹88,540 | ₹1,29,999 (“31% off”) | ₹1,29,999 (Jan 2025) | ₹41,459 |
| Apple iPhone 17 (256GB) | ₹89,999 | ₹99,900 | ₹99,900 on Apple’s own store today | ₹9,901 |
| Nothing Phone (4a) (128GB) | ₹31,999 | ₹49,999 (“36% off”) | ₹31,999 (Mar 2026) | ₹0 |

The one that isn’t a deal
The Nothing Phone (4a) launched at ₹31,999 for the 8GB/128GB model in March 2026, as Free Press Journal reported. Flipkart lists it at ₹31,999 with a ₹49,999 struck-out price and a “36% off” tag. The phone isn’t bad. It just isn’t on sale.
The inflated tag on a real deal
The Galaxy S25 FE launched at ₹59,999, according to FoneArena. At ₹44,999, you do save ₹15,000. But the listing compares it with ₹89,999 to claim “50% off”, a price this model never launched at.
The old flagship
The S25 Ultra’s ₹1,29,999 MRP matches its launch price, per GSMArena. The ₹41,459 saving is real. Just remember it launched in January 2025, so you’re buying a phone that’s almost two years into its update life.
The Catch: Discount Tags Use the Highest Price They Can
Here’s the pattern from the table. The “% off” figure is calculated against the struck-out price, and the struck-out price can be much higher than what the phone actually sold for. MRP is the most a seller is allowed to charge. It isn’t proof that anyone ever paid it.
⚠️ Watch out
A big “% off” badge tells you nothing on its own. Two of the four phones we checked showed a struck-out price higher than their launch price. Always compare with the launch price, the brand’s own website, or the price on Amazon and offline stores the same day.
The iPhone is the cleanest case here. Apple’s own India store lists the iPhone 17 256GB at ₹99,900, the same as Flipkart’s struck-out price, so the ₹9,901 gap is a real one. On apple.com/in, Apple is offering ₹1,000 instant cashback with eligible cards plus no-cost EMI, so Flipkart is still about ₹8,900 cheaper before any exchange.
Our guide on how to check if a sale discount is fake has a longer checklist with price-history tools.
A 5-Minute Deal Check Before You Pay
- Find the launch price. Search “[phone name] launch price India”. Launch-day reports from GSMArena, FoneArena or the brand’s press release are reliable.
- Check the brand’s own store. Apple, Samsung and most brands sell directly. If the brand’s price matches the struck-out MRP, the discount is genuine.
- Compare the same variant. RAM and storage change the price by ₹5,000 to ₹10,000. A “deal” on 128GB isn’t comparable with a 256GB launch price.
- Do the bank-offer maths. Take 10%, then apply the cap. On anything above ₹10,000, the SBI phone offer tops out at ₹1,000.
- Value your old phone separately. Exchange bonuses can hide a weak base price. Check what your old phone would fetch on its own first.

✅ Our verdict
Worth it: Galaxy S25 FE at ₹44,999 if you want a compact Samsung with seven years of updates, and iPhone 17 at ₹89,999 if you were buying one anyway. Fine but think twice: S25 Ultra at ₹88,540, a great camera phone that’s already in its second year. Skip the urgency: Nothing Phone (4a) at ₹31,999, since that’s simply its launch price and it won’t vanish after the sale.
If none of these fit, don’t let the countdown timer decide for you. This isn’t the last sale of the year. A good deal on a phone you didn’t need is still ₹30,000 gone.
